The ideal candidate must have prior experience in a food service environment with excellent attention to detail and an eye for accuracy. The successful applicant will have excellent leadership skills along with good work attitudes and ethics and have the ability to work well under pressure.
About the role:
- Assist the General Manager in the day-to-day operations of the deli, bar, and wine sales outlet.
- Oversee and coordinate the front-of-house team to ensure exceptional service standards are met and exceeded.
- Lead by example in providing attentive and personalized service to guests, offering wine recommendations and cheese pairings.
- Manage and maintain the deli's reservation system, ensuring efficient seating arrangements and optimal customer flow.
- Collaborate with the service team to ensure seamless communication and timely food and beverage service.
- Monitor inventory levels, including wines, cheeses, and other items, and coordinate orders as necessary.
- Assist in training and developing front-of-house staff, ensuring they are well-versed in menu offerings and service protocols.
- Handle customer feedback and concerns professionally and promptly, aiming for swift resolution.
- Contribute to the creation of promotional events, wine tastings, and themed evenings to enhance the guest experience.
- Perform administrative tasks, including staff scheduling, payroll coordination, and reporting.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and liquor laws.
- Assist with wine off-sales recommendations and transactions when needed.
About you:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or assistant manager role in the hospitality industry, preferably in a restaurant, wine bar, or similar setting.
- Strong passion for wines and cheeses, with a solid understanding of pairings and flavors.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and guide the front-of-house team.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and maintain a positive attitude.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Proficient computer skills for managing reservations and basic reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be of legal drinking age due to the nature of the establishment.
- WSET Level 1/2 or Similar Qualifications
- Food Safety / Hygiene Certificate Level 2
- Food Allergen Certificate
